Muradymovskoe Gorge is one of the most picturesque natural parks in Bashkortostan. It was founded in 1998 and is located along the Bolshoy Ik River. Its area is 23,000 hectares. The landscapes of the reserve are fascinating. They are formed of majestic rocks and endless forests. It is home to many of the 500 plant, 122 species of birds, 40 species of mammals, and 9 species of fish. The Bolshoy Ik River has cut its way through the mountains here, forming a rocky gorge.
The nature park is one of the most beautiful and popular places in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The gorge is famous for its caves, there are more than 40 of them. In some of them were found sites of ancient people.
The walls of the Staromuradymovskaya cave are dotted with drawings that are 10,000 years old. In the Novomuradymovskaya cave you may see picturesque calcite deposits on the walls. The sites of ancient people have been found in many caves. An archaeological monument of the Paleolithic times was discovered in the Golubin grotto. The ice cave is covered with ice up to 50 cm thick at any time of the year.
