The tourist attractions of the republic include rivers – big flat rivers and small mountain rivers and streams; and natural and artificial lakes, springs. The republic of Tatarstan is rich in rivers. There are more than 3,000 of them in all, with a total length of about 20,000 km. The largest are the Volga, Kama, Vyatka and Belaya rivers, into which flow the waters of about 60 other small and medium-sized rivers, there are about 10,000 lakes and 1500 natural ponds. The republic’s two major reservoirs: Kuibyshev – 58 km³, and Nizhnekamsk – 33 m³, while, on smaller rivers, there are the Karabash – 0.53 km³, and Zainsk – 0.63 km³, reservoirs. All those waters, which flow within the borders of the republic, contain about forty kinds of fish including bream, perch, pike, sterlet, etc.
