There are few big national parks and reserves in Tatarstan like the Nizhnyaya Kama National Park, the Volga-Kama reserve, the Sviyazhsky nature reserve, forests, groves, glades, and more than 20 other natural park areas, including areas for hunting purposes and of botanical interest. Such places are preserving rich flora and fauna of the area such as many kinds of wood: oak, elm, linden, pine, aspen, and many others; plenty of wild plants, including those which have medicinal properties; about five hundred kinds of vertebrate animals: wood grouse, partridge, grey hare, lynx, bear, and etc. All those subjects located in the parks and forests are under official state protection.
