Local history museum of Aktanyshsky district

Location: Aktanyshsky district, Prospekt Mira 5, Aktanysh, the local history museum of Aktanyshsky district

The museum was founded on May 17, 1975, by local volunteers.

The collection consists of artifacts representing the history of Aktanysh and the district from ancient times to nowadays. There are ten expositions of the most significant items. The expositions are dedicated to the nature and history of Aktanysh, the famous people of the district, and other important aspects of the development of the Aktanyshsky district.

About the museum

“The local history museum of Aktanyshsky district was founded on May 17, 1975 on a voluntary basis. On November 7, 1977, it opened its doors to visitors. The founder of the local history museum was Garipov Ibragim Garipovich. On January 1, 1993, the local history museum of the Aktanysh region was introduced into the state network as a branch of the State United Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan. On May 5, 2003, the State Institution “Aktanysh Regional Museum of the local history of the Republic of Tatarstan” was established. On May 12, 2012, the museum was renamed as the State Budgetary Institution “Aktanysh Regional Museum of Local Lore of the Republic of Tatarstan”.

As of January 1, 2015, there are 14866 exhibits in the funds, of which 8914 items are kept in the main fund. The Aktanysh regional museum is profiled as a local history museum. The chronological framework of the stationary historical exposition covers the period of the history of the Aktanysh village and the region from ancient times to the present day. The expositions are placed in 10 halls: nature, archaeology, pre-revolutionary period of the Aktanyshsky district, the interior of the Tatar house – the end of the XIX – the beginning of the XX century, civil war and political repression, achievements of the master of sports F. Sultanova-Zhdanova, military glory; labour glory and the history of the development of the culture of the region, famous people of the region, and the inauguration of the first President of the Republic of Tatarstan Sh.Sh.Shaimiev. They present the most significant museum objects and collections.”
