The administrative centre of the district is Tetyushi. Area – 1638,3 square km. There is a pier on the Volga river. The city of Tetyushi is situated on the right bank of the Kuibyshev reservoir (there is the Tetyushi pier), 129 km to the south of Kazan, 45 km to the east from the railway station Bua. Tetyushi existed in the times of the Volga Bulgar State since 1578 – a city.
