The administrative centre of the district is Kamskoe Ustye. Area – 1201,1 square km. The district was founded in 1965. The settlement of Kamskoe Ustye is situated on the right bank of the river Volga, 117 km to the southeast of Kazan. There are two piers – Kamskoe Ustye and Kuibyshevsky Zaton.
Kamsko-Ustyinsky municipal district is located in the west of the Republic of Tatarstan, and borders with Verkhneuslonsky, Apastovsky, Tetyushsky, Spassky, and Laishevsky districts along the Kuibyshev reservoir and Kamskoye Mouth. On the territory of the Kamsko-Ustyinsky municipal district, there are highways Verkhny Uslon – Kamskoye Ustye, Apastovo – Kamskoye Ustye. Due to its strategically advantageous geographical position and rich material resources, a special position on the Volga river route, the confluence of the Volga and Kama has firmly entered the history of Russia and Tatarstan.
Because of the location at the confluence of the two rivers Volga and Kama and far from the railways, the main modes of transport in the district are water and road, and only the waterway is part of the transport network of federal importance, the roads in the region are only of local importance.
On the territory of the district, there are 10 specially protected natural areas: state nature reserves of the regional importance of landscape profile and natural monuments. Among them are lakes Karamolskoye and Lesnoye, Yuryevskaya, Zinovyeva, Bogorodskaya and Konnodolskaya caves, Tenkovskaya feather grass steppe, and Antonovsky ravines.
Visitors to the area may also be interested in other objects – A.M. Gorky Museum in the village of Krasnovidovo, Mount Lobach, the manor palace of the Gagarins, the Nativity Church in the village of Burtasy, an old mosque in the village of Malye Karmaly, the Trinity Church in the village of Syukeyevo, the local history museum, and the museum of Tufan Minnullin.
The sports and recreational infrastructure of the district is represented by many sports facilities, including sports halls, a stadium, and the Akcharlak sports and recreation complex.
And yet, the main attraction of the area is the bewitching natural beauty, the Kama and Volga rivers, and endless natural spaces.
