Menzelinsk is situated on the low bank of the river Menzelya, 292 km to the east from Kazan, 65 km to the east from the railway station Krugloe Pole. The settlement was founded in the 16th century. The population is 15,2 thousand people. The town is the centre of Menzelinsky district. There are factories producing beer and mead, matches, candles and bricks.
